Fariquain Shah
Founding Partner
Fariquain Shah, better known as Faz Shah, is Alexander Bennett’s founding partner with over 25 years’ experience in the legal profession. Commencing his career as a qualified barrister, Faz subsequently transferred his expertise to the role of advocate with higher rights of audience and has regularly appeared in Crown Court, handling some of the firm’s most challenging cases.
Faz has specialised in criminal law since 2001 and is best known for his extensive experience in dealing with Very High Cost Cases (VHCC), including MTIC fraud, money laundering and terrorism-related offences. His solid reputation not only extends to his legal prowess but also to the discreet and understanding manner in which he undertakes high-profile client work. Faz is a skilled strategist and highly diligent in his case preparation, gaining his client’s confidence with ease.
Being a respected face in criminal courts for over two decades, Faz has strong links with leading Chambers and KCs, often instructing senior counsel to work alongside in defence of his clients. He strongly believes in offering clients continuity of service and as such, the Firm is structured to ensure that we have the breadth of knowledge and experience to not only provide an unparallelled level of representation, but also a consistent team of support, from the police station right through to Crown Court.
Faz is a well-known and active member of his local community, previously inspiring a new generation of solicitors through his lecturing role, on the LLM International Law Masters course, at the University of Hertfordshire.
